1. This is the guitar that goes with that neck I was posting about, I sprayed it while I was attending Roberto-Venn and just wasn’t entirely happy with the outcome so I am going to go with my original idea of doing a satin white finish thanks to Guitar ReRanch.  I am going to start spraying as soon as I have time and space to hopefully it will be soon and I will have more photos

  2. So I am currently working on my second electric build. This post is specifically about the neck and one on the body will follow.  This is my first attempt at a scarf joint neck, first bolt-on neck, and first neck finished with Tung Oil.  Personally I prefer a set-neck but I think attempting a bolt-on for myself before trying it for a customer was a good idea. I think on my next one I will make the heel thicker and the depth of the pocket on the guitar deeper to try to even out the transition more from neck to body.  Anyway, I am fairly happy with how the oiling process has gone so far.  The neck was sanded up to 320 grit before any finish was applied. After the first 3 days applying a coat a day I started to notice a small bit of figure towards the scarf joint and also a small bit of birdseye randomly over the neck.  It is looking like it will be done soon I think maybe one or 2 more coats and then I will let it sit for a couple weeks before bothering it again.

  3. Got a couple new toys this week.  I am slowly getting everything I need to start building again

  4. This came across my bench a few days ago, it’s a Korean Chrestline that was purchased in Guam in the 80’s.  Surprisingly it was a decent guitar, you can tell it has a lot of miles on it.  When it came to me I was told the customer was having trouble staying in tune. After looking at how a B string was used to replace the D and also how the strings were wound I don’t see how it could have stayed in tune.  I did a clean and re-string then set the action and intonation. I had no issues with it staying in tune and had a pretty good time wailing on this guitar.  Interesting enough it was a plywood guitar, heavy, but a decent player, good sound.
